Better together

Why choose Haven?

It is the quickest path from “I think everything is okay” to knowing what the room needs right now.

👀

One glance, two kinds of care

See environmental problems beside unfinished husbandry instead of checking separate screens.

🔗

Connected, not tangled

Bask and Shed remain independent apps with separate, portable data. Haven adds no third database.

🔒

A deliberately limited bridge

The dashboard receives only anonymous care totals and outstanding tasks—never identities, access codes, rewards, or write access.

📺

Made for the room

Readable across a room on a wall monitor, while each full app remains available from phones and computers.

🌱

Start small, grow later

Begin with Bask or Shed and add the other later. The installer preserves existing settings and records.

🏠

Private by design

Everything runs on your own Raspberry Pi or other home server. Core use needs no subscription or cloud account.

One installer

Choose the setup that fits your room.

Run one command on a 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS or Debian machine. The installer prepares Docker, installs your selection, and safely keeps its data between updates.

Questions before you start

Is Haven a third app or database?

No. Haven is the combined installation and read-only room display produced by Bask and Shed. The two apps remain independent and retain separate, portable data.

Can I install only Bask or Shed?

Yes. The same installer offers Bask, Shed, or Haven. Each standalone project also has its own page and installer. You can add the other app later without replacing existing data.

What hardware do I need?

A 64-bit Raspberry Pi running Raspberry Pi OS is the easiest option, though another 64-bit Debian machine works too. Bask additionally needs compatible Bluetooth temperature and humidity sensors. Any browser on your home network can open the apps.

Does Haven expose household information?

No. The room display uses a private server-to-server connection and receives a deliberately limited Shed feed. It excludes household identities, access codes, rewards, history, completion identifiers, and all write access.

Does it require the internet?

Internet access is needed for installation and updates. Normal local monitoring, care records, and the Haven dashboard run on your home network. Optional notification services use the provider you choose.

Is this husbandry or veterinary advice?

No. Haven helps you monitor, plan, and record care. Species targets and schedules should come from appropriate, trusted sources, and health concerns belong with a qualified veterinarian.
